You definitely need a ripping chain for that Granberg. Makes planking up very easy! Great video thanks for showing!
It's really strange but I can almost smell this, never happened to me before
going need popcorn for this one lol
What happened to all the bushcraft videos that used to do
There are loads of vids saying these are rubbish. What do you think? Especially now you have altered it?
When using Japanese saws, only pull the saw to cut, it is more controlled. And as for the details you put into the handle. Well done sir! If I was to buy another axe, it would certainly be one of yours. Excellent workmanship! To soak the handle in oil, long plant pots, window pots are ideal for this!
Zed, your videos are phenomenal. I really love the long format, sorely missing in this age of tictoc attention spans. The amount of information and insight is exactly perfect. Thank you.
Hi Paul, I sincerely appreciate your kind words and for watching, I really mean that. I know these long format videos are not for everybody, but I try to focus on capturing real skills with as much information as I possibly can. Stay blessed my friend ~Peace~
That is not a Peavy…it is a cant hook. A peavy is a cant hook with a spike on the end.
Thank you for the information John ~Peace~
Parabéns pelo vídeo meus amigos. Sucesso sempre
Obrigado pelas amáveis palavras e por assistir ~Peace~
Great video - thanks! Took me a few goes to get on that wasn’t too loose, but it works a treat. Also, I tried it with leaves from my yucca plant…. Worked really well!
Hi Frank, chuffed to hear you got this to work for you and appreciate the heads up on using Yucca plant! ~Peace~
Video quality: 360p or 1080p Premium. Wtf? Zed are you aware of this? 👎👎
First i've seen this, I know RUclips is making lots of changes to the platform so hopefully this video resorts back to normal 'video quality' options, rest is out of my hands dude ~Peace~
When a freehand sharpener tries to explain the process it is not easy because feel & experience is so important.
Videos are never a replacement for real life skills and experience, they are merely an aid. When it comes to sharpening you are right, experience in the field is paramount ~Peace~
Excellent video. I love it when you explained and gave where I might get some tools. Keep it up...
Appreciate your kind words and for watching, thank you ~Peace~
Great Video! Do you only focus on UK craftsmen?
Great! There is, however, one bad thing about making small things out wood - you hate seeing people chop wood up for firewood; seeing hundreds of spoons, or chessmen, even chessboards, going up in smoke is sad.
The beauty with wood is that it is regerative ~Peace~
What’s the axe he uses?
Alas this was filmed s long ago i've forgotten what axe he was using ~Peace~
Really impressive great to see the cross section.
Thank you kindly ~Peace~
Very beautiful bowl ,I would definitely cut myself finishing off clearing the core.Do you ever use any natural oils in the finishing process?
Indeed yes she covers oil in the video and it is timestamped in the description ~Peace~
Would love to see the lock lid turn .
We would love to make that video next time we are with zed! Hopefully we will come to Sweden and we can film it here =)
There you have it Chris, looks like I am going to Sweden for another round of filming! :) ~Peace~
Thank you so much for the opportunity to present my sharpening system Zed! It was a pleasure to spend time with you and share my passion for sharp tools. Sharpening is an essential aspect of spoon carving. A well-sharpened carving knife is not only safer but also allows for more precise and efficient carving. For anyone watching this video, I invite you to get in touch with me through our contact form on The Spoon Crank website for a 1:1 sharpening guidance, free of charge! Thank you again for the support and for your contribution to the woodworking community. Happy Sharpening! Dio
It was lovely as always hanging out with you Dio and to see you at work. Look forward to catching up over a cup of chai in the future ~Peace~
Fantastic educational video. I love the sound of the blades whispering through the wood. Class
Me and you both, the sound is like asmr for the soul ~Peace~
another excellent video with deborah x
Thank you kindly ~Peace~
im really enjoying deborah videos 🤩
Deborah is an absolute joy to spend time with and collaborate ~Peace~
deborah is brilliant.🤩
Isn't she just! ~Peace~
Where is the pouch for the compass from? Absolutely stunning!
Alas I don't remember where it's from but feel free to message David on his Instagram as he'll happily tell you where it's from - instagram.com/davidfriars
I am watching this as a woodworker but also a paramedic. The axe work against the forearm made me a bit nervous. Love these spoons
I totally get you, my first ever reaction seeing green woodworkers carve was also nerve racking. However, these folk know what they are doing and safety is paramount to them. Many thanks for watching ~Peace~
@@Zedoutdoors exactly but things happen. Love your videos❤️💪🏻🙏
excellent video. very interesting and nice pace! thank you
You are very kind thank you ~Peace~
brilliant craftmanship 🤩
Amen to that, Dan is a very talented chap ~Peace~
Very cool!! So sorry you had to pay extra tax on your shipment from the USA. I loved the video, very relaxing and also loved the instruction and hearing you describe it. The spoons are absolutely gorgeous.
Sincerely appreciate your kind words and for watching, thank you ~Peace~
I love watching Anna & the other artists that you have videoed carve spoons I learn more and more from each and everyone that freely give of their time and talent. I would like to encourage beginners to take up spoon carving. I’m an old guy and have enjoyed learning to make them, each spoon is better looking than the last. Thanks Anna & Zed
I sincerely appreciate your kind words Richard and to hear how these videos have helped you in your carving journey. May you have many years of carving ahead of you, take care my friend ~Peace~
Excellent tutorial, thanks.
Thank you kindly, all credit to Lee and his wonderful teaching ~Peace~
Great and very informative video again! Thank you so much for your work Zed! It's highly appreciated all over the word! ♥️
You are very kind Konstantin thank you! ~Peace~
Can bamboo fibers be used like you are doing with the cedar if you know?
Alas bamboo does not grow in the UK so have no experience with it ~Peace~
Thanks
Thank you ~Peace~
Very pretty. I love sharpening. I think this is far too complex. Good luck to him
Not complex at all, it's a compact systme that ticks a lot of boxes. That being said this is just one way of approaching sharpening your tools. Many thanks for watching ~Peace~
Never a dull moment with Zed!😉✌🏾
Thank you kindly Marso! ~Peace~
👍
Thank you Cedric ~Peace~
We filmed at this event - ruclips.net/video/XpgKH9KlQJ8/видео.html
Fantastic stuff! I wonder how he gets the compound containers (eg the flask) holding liquid... maybe some kind of glue?
I don't remember if he used glue in the flask he made, but a lot of it is to do with a tight friction fitting system ~Peace~
@@Zedoutdoors wow, that must be really difficult to achieve! I know it because even my shrinkpods do leak sometimes ;) thanks and peace
Ran across your video again. Great info. Thank you.
You are very kind Jeff thank you ~Peace~
Great work! She's very skilled and a hottie as well!😍 thanks for sharing
Appreciate you watching and indeed, Ellie is a very talented lady ~Peace~
Great explanation! Thanks 🙏🏾
Thank you kindly ~Peace~
*OMG Zed!!!* Im salivating right now. I love this stuff. I grew up on it when I was a kid living in Denmark.
You can have my share next time lol :) ~Peace~
Love you all ❤
Thank you kindly ~Peace~
loving the videos . keep up the fantastic work x
You are very kind thank you! ~Peace~
amazing what you do with nature x
Amen to that ~Peace~
Ha, ha! I grew up with Dutch salted licorice which is called Drop. It's soooo good and kind of addictive. All the kids would do anything for it. You took me back, thanks. And thank you so much for all the wonderful work that you do on your channel. 👍 All the best from bonnie Scotland.
I tried normal Dutch licorice for the first time last year, chalk board I think it;s called, and it's honestly the nicest licorice I have ever tried, no doubt the salted variety takes getting used to! I sincerely appreciate the kind words and to hear you have enjoyed the videos, stay blessed ~Peace~
Itsa great video one thing id like to ask why not use a jig saw instead of the axe so much quicker thank you lovely lady im 84 and started whittling two years ago and looking for a new chalenge all the time ill follow your lead and use small axe so i can compare with a saw, take care .
Using a jigsaw is absolutely fine if you have one, otherwise using an axe & saw derives a lot more pleasure. Many thanks for watching and take care ~Peace~
I dont see any cuts bandaids or first aid station all so clever due to health issus i started carving and iv been looking for some thing to inspire me iv got an idea now, thank you from the sunshine coast Australia a beut video .
There was a first aid station here and plenty of first aid officers, thankfully no serious issues! Many thanks for watching and take care ~Peace~
I remember my first go at salmiak licorice; an eye-opening affair, certainly! haha Awesome video, Zed. 😁👍👍
lol I definitely won't be forgetting this taste test in a hurry! :) ~Peace~
